Boston Legacy FC has officially confirmed that starting in 2027, they will host their National Women’s Soccer League (NWSL) home matches at Centreville Bank Stadium in Pawtucket, Rhode Island. The anticipated move to their long-term home, White Stadium, has been postponed once again and is now scheduled for 2028.
This decision comes in the wake of a ruling by the Massachusetts Supreme Judicial Court, which has cleared legal hurdles preventing Boston Legacy and the City of Boston from proceeding with renovations at White Stadium. Following this ruling, the project team has finalized the remaining construction schedule, solidifying the club’s relocation to White Stadium for the 2028 season.
Jennifer Epstein, Controlling Owner of Boston Legacy FC, expressed her enthusiasm about the club’s journey, stating, “Boston deserves a world-class home for professional women’s soccer and youth sports. This initiative will not only benefit the club but also enhance opportunities for Boston Public Schools students and serve local communities for generations.” She added that they are looking forward to building team momentum at Centreville Bank Stadium while keeping their sights on their true home at White Stadium.
The renovation of White Stadium was a pivotal aspect of Boston Legacy’s successful bid for an NWSL expansion team, which will kick off in the 2026 season. Initially set to host matches in 2026 and then in 2027, the move to White Stadium has now been delayed until 2028. This timeline suggests that no games will take place in Massachusetts throughout the 2027 season, except for a potential fixture at Gillette Stadium or another venue closer to Boston.
Meanwhile, construction at White Stadium is progressing steadily, with crews working diligently six days a week. Once finished, the venue is expected to feature 10,500 permanent seats surrounding a natural grass pitch, contributing to an elevated matchday experience for fans.
Centreville Bank Stadium, inaugurated in 2025, is dedicated solely to soccer and offers modern amenities alongside an intimate atmosphere. The 10,500-seat venue has hosted seven of the Legacy’s inaugural home games. Thus far in the 2026 season, the Legacy boasts an attendance average of 8,980 and a record of 2 wins, 3 losses, and 1 draw.
Paul Byrne, General Manager of Centreville Bank Stadium, highlighted the stadium’s ambiance, stating that it provides an energetic environment, crucial for establishing a genuine home-field advantage. “We are thrilled to welcome Boston Legacy FC back for another season and strive to make this a place where they can achieve success while delivering an exceptional experience for their supporters,” he added.
As the 2026 season winds down, Boston Legacy FC has three home games remaining; two will take place at Gillette Stadium in Foxborough, Massachusetts, and one at the highly anticipated Centreville Bank Stadium.
