Mikel Arteta aims for momentum as Arsenal faces Bournemouth
Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta will be looking for his team to build on their recent narrow victory over Sporting CP when they take on Bournemouth in the Premier League on Saturday.
Currently, the Gunners are nine points ahead at the top of the league table, although second-placed Manchester City holds a game in hand that could close the gap.
Arteta has led his squad to second-place finishes in each of the last three seasons, and he is determined to surpass those results this time around.
As the Cherries prepare to visit the Emirates, there are emerging reports that one of Arteta’s players is keen to remain with the club, despite uncertainties surrounding his future.
According to Football Insider, winger Gabriel Martinelli is eager to stay at Arsenal, even as the club contemplates putting him up for sale during the upcoming summer transfer window.
Since arriving from Brazilian side Ituano in 2019, Martinelli has steadily become an integral part of the Arsenal setup. Across all competitions, the 24-year-old has made 269 appearances, contributing a total of 97 goals and assists.
This season, however, the Brazilian international has struggled with consistency, starting only nine of Arsenal’s 31 Premier League matches to date.
Despite Arsenal’s consideration of a summer sale, sources suggest that Martinelli is eager to remain in London and fight for his spot in Arteta’s lineup.
As Martinelli approaches the final year of his current contract, his future could prompt the Gunners to weigh their options carefully regarding potential departures this summer.
