Liverpool faces Aston Villa in critical away clash to round off their Premier League campaign.

Under the guidance of Arne Slot, Aston Villa soared to the Premier League title last season during his debut tenure. However, their fortunes have taken a downturn this year as they grapple with inconsistencies.

The Reds currently occupy fourth place in the Premier League, yet their Champions League qualification remains uncertain. A draw at Villa Park would confirm their spot in next season’s elite European competition.

As Liverpool gears up for this pivotal match, anxiety looms over Slot’s future at the club. Supporters made their dissatisfaction clear during and after the 1-1 stalemate against Chelsea on Saturday.

Compounding the tension before the fixture, reports indicate that one of Liverpool’s key players, goalkeeper Alisson, is in negotiations with Serie A outfit Juventus regarding a potential summer exit.

According to reputable journalist Ben Jacobs, Alisson’s discussions with the Turin giants suggest a move could be in the works. However, the experienced shot-stopper is unlikely to push for a transfer if Liverpool isn’t inclined to part ways with him.

Since joining Liverpool from AS Roma in 2018, Alisson has made 332 appearances, registering 137 clean sheets and conceding 305 goals. However, injuries have plagued him this season, and he has recently struggled with a hamstring issue, limiting his contribution to just 25 Premier League matches so far.

Should Alisson make the move to Juventus, Liverpool is expected to hand the starting role to Giorgi Mamardashvili, currently their second-choice goalkeeper. While Mamardashvili has also faced injury setbacks this season, reports suggest he may be trusted to fill the void left by Alisson should the latter depart.
