All eyes will be on England manager Thomas Tuchel as he unveils his squad for the upcoming World Cup in the United States, Canada, and Mexico, scheduled for this summer.

The former Chelsea head coach will announce a 26-man final squad at 11 a.m. on Friday, following the submission of an undisclosed 55-player list to FIFA.

Leading up to the official announcement, reports indicate that two major players are likely to be left out of the Three Lions’ squad.

As reported by The Athletic, both Cole Palmer and Phil Foden are set to miss a spot in the squad when it is revealed on Friday.

The talented attacking midfielders have faced challenging seasons with Chelsea and Manchester City, respectively, leading to speculation that they will not feature in Tuchel’s selection.

Palmer notably scored England’s goal in the final of the 2024 European Championships, where the Three Lions fell short against Spain, losing 2-1 under the previous management of Gareth Southgate.

In total, the young attacker has made 14 senior appearances for England, contributing two goals.

Despite accumulating a commendable 74 goals and assists across his initial two seasons with Chelsea, Palmer’s performance has waned this year, with only ten goals to his name so far.

Conversely, Foden, who was honored as the PFA Player of the Year in 2024 after Manchester City’s historic treble-winning campaign, has also struggled to find his form.

Having represented the Three Lions 49 times, the City academy product has managed to score four goals for his country.

Manchester United midfielder Kobbie Mainoo is anticipated to make the squad, alongside former Brentford striker Ivan Toney, who is currently showcasing his talents in Saudi Arabia.

England’s World Cup journey will commence against Croatia in Texas on June 17, followed by additional group stage encounters against Ghana and Panama.
