Manchester United and Liverpool Set for High-Stakes Clash

The young England international has solidified his place as a vital asset under Carrick, particularly after a difficult stint during Ruben Amorim’s time at the club, where he struggled to find regular playing time.
Since Carrick took over in January, Mainoo has featured in nearly every match, missing only one fixture—United’s recent defeat to Leeds United—due to a minor injury. So far, he has made 98 appearances for the club and has earned 12 caps for the England senior team.
Although Mainoo’s contract was initially set to expire at the end of next season, uncertainties loomed over the possibility of a renewal, particularly after the player expressed a desire to go out on loan last summer. However, Romano now reports that a comprehensive agreement is in place, and Mainoo could sign his new contract as early as this week.
The new deal promises a pay increase for the 21-year-old midfielder, securing his future at United until the summer of 2031, with an announcement expected before the season concludes.
