Liverpool’s Squad Undergoes Potential Overhaul Ahead of 2026/27 Season

As Liverpool gears up for the 2026/27 season, fans may witness a significantly different lineup compared to the one that concluded last year. Key departures from Anfield include the likes of Andy Robertson and Mohamed Salah, both of whom have already bid farewell to the club.

Furthermore, Liverpool has appointed Andoni Iraola as the new manager, replacing Arne Slot. Iraola, who recently vacated his position at Bournemouth, will likely seek to implement changes within the squad despite previous recruitment efforts that saw the club invest over £400 million last summer.

Amid these changes, it appears that one player Iraola has inherited may soon depart. Reports from CaughtOffside suggest that Federico Chiesa could be on his way back to Italy this summer, having struggled to secure a regular starting position since joining the Reds.

Sources indicate that Liverpool is open to selling the Italian forward for a fee of approximately £17.26 million. Chiesa, 28, joined the Merseyside club from Serie A giants Juventus in 2024, after making a significant impact both at Juventus and during his tenure at Fiorentina.

However, his time at Liverpool has not been particularly fruitful; he has netted only five goals and provided five assists in 50 appearances. Notably, last season, Chiesa started just once in 38 Premier League matches.

Interest in Chiesa appears to be growing, with Serie A clubs Napoli and Como reportedly the most keen on acquiring him. The talented winger is under contract at Anfield until the conclusion of the 2027/28 season, adding to his perceived value.

Despite the interest, it remains uncertain if any potential suitors will agree to meet Liverpool’s asking price for the Italian international. The upcoming months could see significant developments regarding Chiesa’s future as the summer transfer window unfolds.
