Manchester United Set to Face Wrexham in Pre-Season Opener
Manchester United will take on Championship side Wrexham this Saturday in their first friendly of the summer, marking the beginning of their pre-season campaign. The match is scheduled to be held at the Helsinki Olympic Stadium in Finland, offering United a taste of international competition.
Following the clash with Wrexham, Michael Carrick’s team has lined up a series of challenging friendlies against notable opponents, including Rosenborg, Atletico Madrid, Paris Saint-Germain, Leeds United, and AC Milan. This rigorous schedule will culminate in their final friendly against AC Milan on August 15, just a week prior to their Premier League season opener against newly-promoted Hull City.
In a twist of news ahead of the summer transfer window, reports indicate that AC Milan is interested in acquiring one of Manchester United’s key players. According to CaughtOffside, the Serie A giants have set their sights on winger Amad Diallo as they look to enhance their squad.
Diallo, 24, made his move to the Red Devils from Atalanta in 2021 and has since spent time on loan at Sunderland and Scottish giants Rangers. The Ivory Coast international recently made headlines for his impressive performances, including scoring twice at the World Cup this summer.
In total, Diallo has made 97 appearances for Manchester United, contributing 16 goals and providing an equal number of assists across all competitions. His growing impact on the pitch has not gone unnoticed, especially by former United manager Ruben Amorim, who is now at the helm of AC Milan and is rumored to be eager to integrate Diallo into his squad.
Despite AC Milan’s interest, it’s suggested that the club may propose a financially conservative offer for Diallo, which could challenge their chances of convincing Manchester United to part with the winger. Last season, Diallo featured prominently, starting in 27 of United’s 38 Premier League matches.
