Manchester United’s Impressive Form Continues with Victory Over Nottingham Forest

Manchester United maintained their excellent form, securing a 3-1 victory against Nottingham Forest at Old Trafford on Sunday. The hosts took the lead early in the match with Luke Shaw scoring his first goal of the season, creating a spirited atmosphere among the home supporters.

Not long after the interval, Nottingham Forest leveled the score through their striker, Morato, who capitalized on a brief lapse in United’s defense. However, the home side responded promptly, with Matheus Cunha finding the net to restore United’s advantage, despite a lengthy VAR review concerning a possible handball by Bryan Mbeumo.

Cunha’s efforts paved the way for an additional goal from the Cameroonian forward, firmly putting United ahead once again. Although Morgan Gibbs-White pulled a goal back for Forest, Michael Carrick’s squad demonstrated resilience, ultimately securing all three points.

Looking ahead, United will face Brighton and Hove Albion on the final day of the season. Speculation is rife that Carrick could be announced as the club’s permanent head coach before this significant clash on the south coast.

In a significant off-pitch development, it has been confirmed that full-back Tyrell Malacia will depart from Manchester United this summer upon the expiration of his contract. The club announced this news on Sunday, marking the end of Malacia’s tenure at Old Trafford.

The 26-year-old Dutch international joined United from Feyenoord in 2022 but has faced a challenging time marred by injuries. A severe knee injury in the summer of 2023 sidelined him for 500 days, during which he missed 70 matches, impacting his ability to contribute to the team.

Having regained fitness late in 2024, Malacia was loaned to Eredivisie giants PSV Eindhoven for the latter half of the previous season, seeking regular game time. In total, he has made 49 appearances for the Red Devils across various competitions. However, with Luke Shaw consistently ahead in the selection pecking order, Malacia has managed only two Premier League outings this season. Despite his struggles, he played a role in United’s triumph in the Carabao Cup in 2023 under head coach Erik ten Hag.
