Manchester United braces for showdown against Manchester City
Manchester United faces one of their most formidable challenges of the Premier League season this Sunday as they prepare to take on city rivals Manchester City. Under the guidance of manager Michael Carrick, United began the season on a disappointing note, suffering a 2-0 defeat to newly promoted Hull City. However, they rebounded impressively, securing a 5-2 victory over Ipswich Town in their first home match.
In their most recent outing, the Red Devils were held to a draw by Everton, with Ainsley Maitland-Niles’ spectacular late goal salvaging a point for the Toffees. As Carrick seeks to return his team to winning form at Old Trafford, news has surfaced that the club may struggle to secure one of their top transfer targets.
According to the Italian publication TuttoJuve, as reported by TEAMtalk, Bundesliga side Stuttgart is hesitant to part ways with Manchester United’s target Finn Jeltsch during the upcoming January transfer window.
The report indicates that the 20-year-old central defender is attracting interest from multiple clubs, including reigning Premier League champions Arsenal and German giants Bayern Munich. Manchester United is reportedly prepared to compete for the young talent’s services, but Stuttgart remains steadfast in its intentions to keep the player at least until the end of the season.
Having joined Stuttgart from Nuremberg in 2025, Jeltsch has already made 55 appearances for the Bundesliga club in all competitions. His current contract extends until the conclusion of the 2029/30 season, underscoring Stuttgart’s commitment to retaining the player.
While Stuttgart is currently unwilling to entertain offers for Jeltsch in January, reports suggest that their stance could shift if a substantial bid is made once the transfer window opens in the new year.
