Premier League champions Arsenal were stunned by a 3-0 defeat to Brighton and Hove Albion on Saturday.
The Gunners entered the match with a perfect record, having secured victories in their first four league outings. However, goals from Pascal Gross and Charalampos Kostoulas left Brighton in a commanding position at halftime.
Chema Andres added a third for the Seagulls in the second half, leaving Mikel Arteta’s side reeling from a surprising loss.
Arsenal now trails league leaders Manchester City by three points as they head into the international break, with their next Premier League fixture scheduled against Leeds United on October 10.
In the aftermath of this unexpected defeat, reports have surfaced indicating that Arsenal is monitoring a highly regarded forward from the Bundesliga.
According to a report from TEAMtalk, the Gunners have shown significant interest in Borussia Dortmund’s Maximilian Beier and have been very impressed by his recent performances.
Beier, 23, is reportedly on Arsenal’s radar as the club explores various options to strengthen their attacking lineup. Since joining Dortmund from Hoffenheim in 2024, Beier has made an impact, scoring 21 goals and providing 19 assists in 97 matches across all competitions.
This season, the talented attacker, who is capable of playing as a central forward or on either wing, has contributed three combined goals and assists in just four Bundesliga matches.
Currently under contract until the end of the 2028/29 season, Beier’s versatility makes him an appealing target for Arsenal. The Germany international’s ability to operate as a striker, attacking midfielder, or winger aligns well with the club’s tactical needs.
Arsenal has the advantage of observing Beier closely this season, as their academy graduate Ethan Nwaneri is presently on loan at Dortmund, allowing the Gunners to evaluate the young forward’s development firsthand.
