Michael Carrick under pressure ahead of Fulham clash
Manchester United manager Michael Carrick is eager to see his team bounce back when they take on Fulham this Sunday. The Red Devils are coming off a disappointing 1-0 loss to cross-town rivals Manchester City, where they failed to capitalize on a first-half red card issued to Phil Foden.
In a recent Carabao Cup match against Brighton & Hove Albion, United initially surged ahead with a two-goal lead. However, Brighton’s remarkable comeback ultimately saw them eliminate United from the competition, adding to Carrick’s challenges at Old Trafford.
With mounting pressure surrounding his position, Carrick knows that a positive result at Craven Cottage is crucial for regaining confidence amid a turbulent period for the club.
Meanwhile, United is reportedly one of three major Premier League clubs eyeing a La Liga standout. According to journalist Ekrem Konur, Arsenal and Liverpool are also interested in Barcelona’s Raphinha, who has become a key figure as uncertainty looms over his future.
The former Leeds United winger has been in exceptional form this season, netting 11 goals and providing three assists in just seven appearances across all competitions for Barcelona.
In a bid to secure his status as one of Barcelona’s top earners, Raphinha is said to have requested a significant salary increase, aiming to double his current wages.
While Manchester United, Liverpool, and Arsenal are closely monitoring Raphinha’s situation, Saudi Pro League club Al-Hilal is also keeping an eye on developments. Since his transfer from Leeds to Barcelona in 2022, Raphinha has made 184 appearances, scoring 86 goals and assisting 62 times.
With his contract set to expire at the end of the 2027/28 season, Barcelona will likely be keen to negotiate a long-term deal to secure his future at the club.
