Following the closure of the transfer window on Tuesday evening, Premier League clubs will now have to wait until January to make any further signings.

This summer, all 20 clubs in England’s top flight were actively engaged in the transfer market, collectively shattering the record for overall expenditure by exceeding £3.4 billion.

On deadline day alone, Premier League clubs splurged over £500 million, significantly outpacing the £391 million spent on the same day last year.

Here’s a look at the five most notable Premier League signings from this summer’s transfer window.

5. Sandro Tonali – Newcastle United to Tottenham Hotspur (£92.75m)

After securing second place in the Premier League for the past two seasons, Tottenham Hotspur made substantial investments this summer, with midfielder Sandro Tonali becoming their marquee signing. The Italy international’s initial transfer fee was set at £92.75 million, potentially rising to £100 million, though his second appearance for Spurs ended early when he was substituted against former club Newcastle.

4. Bradley Barcola – Paris Saint-Germain to Liverpool (£106m)

In search of a replacement for Mohamed Salah, who departed Anfield at the end of last season, Liverpool secured winger Bradley Barcola from Champions League defenders Paris Saint-Germain. The Reds broke the British transfer record twice last summer, and they will be hoping for a strong debut from Barcola, who could eventually command up to £123 million with various add-ons factored in.

3. Elliot Anderson – Nottingham Forest to Manchester City (£116m)

Elliot Anderson had long been touted for a significant transfer following his standout performances with England at the World Cup this summer. Shortly after the tournament’s conclusion, the talented midfielder made the move to Manchester City. Having joined Nottingham Forest from Newcastle in 2024, he now joins a fresh-looking City midfield eager to contend for titles.

2. Morgan Rogers – Aston Villa to Chelsea (£117m)

Linked with Premier League champions Arsenal before his transfer, Morgan Rogers ultimately signed with Chelsea for an astounding £117 million. The English forward made a cameo for the national team during the World Cup and has already made an impact at Stamford Bridge, scoring on his debut and assisting in the recent victory against Brighton & Hove Albion. He is poised for a promising season alongside his close friend Cole Palmer.

1. Enzo Fernandez – Chelsea to Manchester City (£125m)

Argentina’s Enzo Fernandez found himself at the heart of the most significant transfer saga of the summer, with Manchester City pursuing the midfielder for weeks. On deadline day, the Citizens finally struck a deal for the former Benfica star, making him one of the joint-most expensive signings in British football history, alongside Liverpool’s Alexander Isak.
