As the World Cup excitement settles down, Premier League clubs are gearing up for the eagerly anticipated transfer window opening on Monday.

All 20 clubs in England’s top flight, from reigning champions Arsenal to newly-promoted teams like Coventry City, Ipswich Town, and Hull City, are expected to be actively involved in the summer transfer market.

This summer promises to be transformative, particularly as five of the traditional ‘top six’ clubs have changed managers since the last season commenced.

Tottenham Hotspur is one of those clubs, having parted ways with both Thomas Frank and his replacement, Igor Tudor, last season before bringing in Roberto De Zerbi as their new head coach.

Recent reports indicate that one of De Zerbi’s primary transfer targets has expressed a strong desire to make a move to north London.

According to Football Insider, Brighton and Hove Albion defender Jan Paul Van Hecke is enthusiastic about signing with Tottenham this summer.

Van Hecke has already been the subject of two rejected bids from Spurs, and the club is reportedly preparing a third offer to secure his signature.

The centre-back made the switch to Brighton from Dutch club NAC Breda in 2020, coinciding with De Zerbi’s tenure at the Amex Stadium. Since then, he has spent time on loan at Herenveen and Blackburn Rovers.

After returning from Blackburn in 2022, Van Hecke quickly established himself as a vital figure in Brighton’s defense, making over 130 appearances across all competitions. However, sources suggest that he now feels ready to seek a new challenge.

Van Hecke’s contract with the Seagulls is set to expire at the end of the next season, making this summer an opportune time for a potential transfer.
