Arsenal poised to extend Premier League lead against Fulham
Premier League leaders Arsenal have the opportunity to increase their lead at the top of the table to six points with a victory over London rivals Fulham on Saturday. Currently, the Gunners are three points ahead of second-placed Manchester City, although they have played one match more than their title rivals.
A win against Fulham would set the stage for a significant advantage, especially before Manchester City takes on Everton on Monday evening.
In addition to their title ambitions, Arsenal is reportedly exploring the possibility of re-signing one of their former players.
According to Sports Boom, manager Mikel Arteta is keen on bringing winger Serge Gnabry back to the Emirates from Bayern Munich.
Gnabry, now 30, began his career at Arsenal before leaving for Werder Bremen in 2016. A year later, he made a move to Bayern, where he has enjoyed considerable success, including a loan spell at Hoffenheim.
Throughout his time at Bayern, Gnabry has made 322 appearances, scoring 103 goals and providing 72 assists. However, he has found game time limited this season, starting only 16 Bundesliga matches, largely due to the emergence of wingers Michael Olise and Luis Diaz under manager Vincent Kompany.
Given this context, Arsenal is reportedly keeping a close eye on the German international. Arteta views Gnabry as a missed opportunity from his initial tenure at the club.
With a contract at Bayern that runs until the end of the 2027/28 season, Arsenal’s interest represents an ambitious attempt to bring the experienced forward back to north London this summer. Arteta sees Gnabry as an ideal addition to enhance squad depth, particularly as a strong rotation option on the right flank.
