Bay FC has secured the services of their standout midfielder, Claire Hutton, with a significant five-year contract that extends until the end of the 2030 National Women’s Soccer League season. Hutton initially joined Bay FC on February 11 after a high-profile trade from the Kansas City Current, which saw the team part with $1.1 million in intra-league transfer funds.

While specific terms of the contract remain undisclosed, the commitment marks a pivotal moment for both Hutton and the club.

Expressing her enthusiasm for the new deal, Hutton remarked, “I am excited to make this commitment to Bay FC. This is a club with real ambition, and I’ve felt a strong belief in both the team and my development since day one. This felt like a true two-way investment.” She emphasized her eagerness to contribute to the club’s growth over the next five years, highlighting their joint aspirations for success.

So far this season, Hutton has made a notable impact on the pitch. She started in both of Bay FC’s opening matches, including a solid 2-1 victory against new expansion team Denver Summit and a challenging 3-1 loss to Angel City FC, playing the full 90 minutes in both encounters.

Bay FC head coach Emma Coates praised Hutton’s skill set, stating, “Claire is an excellent player, and we’re absolutely delighted to have her sign a new five-year contract with Bay FC.” Coates further elaborated on Hutton’s contributions, asserting that her presence would not only benefit the team immediately but would also help shape their success for years to come.

Before joining Bay FC, Hutton made her mark with the Kansas City Current, where she made 41 starts in 47 appearances over two seasons, contributing three assists and clocking in a total of 3,471 minutes of regular-season play. This experience at a competitive level laid solid groundwork for her current role.

At just 20 years old, Hutton is also a member of the U.S. women’s national team, having made her debut in February 2025 during the SheBelieves Cup. With 15 caps and one goal to her name, she recently captained the national team on January 24 in a friendly match against Paraguay—a testament to her rising stature in women’s football.

Next, Bay FC is set to face the North Carolina Courage at WakeMed Soccer Park on Saturday, March 28, a match that will be crucial as they continue to build momentum in the league.
