Arsenal’s Title Defense Tested by Leeds United Challenge

Defending Premier League champions Arsenal will resume their campaign against a surging Leeds United following the international break. Mikel Arteta’s squad began the season in impressive form but suffered a surprising 3-0 defeat to Brighton and Hove Albion in their most recent match.

Currently, the Gunners find themselves in second place in the league standings, trailing leaders Manchester City by three points.

In the lead-up to the international break, interesting transfer news has emerged regarding one of Arsenal’s marquee signings. According to Turkish Football, as reported by CaughtOffside, Galatasaray is eyeing struggling Arsenal forward Viktor Gyokeres as a potential target.

The Turkish outfit is said to have marked the Swedish forward for consideration amid his challenges adapting to life in north London. Gyokeres, 28, joined Arsenal from Portuguese club Sporting CP in the summer of 2025, where he enjoyed a prolific last season, scoring 54 goals in just 52 matches.

In his inaugural season with the Gunners, Gyokeres netted 21 goals across all competitions. However, his participation has diminished this season, as he has started only two matches under Arteta—one in the Champions League against Napoli and another in the Carabao Cup against Ipswich Town.

Galatasaray is reportedly contemplating a move for the forward when the transfer window reopens in January, with plans potentially involving a loan or a more complex transfer arrangement.

Despite his contract at The Emirates running until the conclusion of the 2029/30 season, Gyokeres’ future appears uncertain, given his limited playing time. To date, he has logged only 207 minutes on the pitch this term, raising questions about his role within Arteta’s plans.
