Manaka Hayashi has officially made Italy her new home after transferring from the Chicago Stars to Juventus FC in Serie A. The financial details of the transaction remain undisclosed, but both clubs have confirmed the move.
As reported by Juventus, Hayashi has penned a three-year contract, which will keep her at the club until June 2029. The young midfielder is expected to add depth and skill to Juventus’s already talented roster.
Chicago Stars FC President Karen Leetzow expressed her appreciation for Hayashi’s contributions, stating, “Mana is an incredibly dedicated and talented player, and we believe this move will be beneficial for her as she continues her development. We’re grateful for her contributions to our club, and we wish her the best in this new chapter in Italy.”
Hayashi, who represents Japan on the international stage, joined the Chicago Stars in 2025 and has since made 25 starts over 38 appearances, contributing one assist in the previous season. Before her time in the National Women’s Soccer League (NWSL), she played for Kobe Leonessa in Japan, where she made two appearances.
Reflecting on her experience in Chicago, Hayashi expressed her gratitude: “I’m very grateful to Chicago for welcoming me when I got here. It was my dream to play professionally in the U.S. since I started playing soccer, and I have been so honored to be part of this team.” She also acknowledged her teammates, staff, and the fans for their unwavering support throughout her journey.
Born in Hyōgo, Japan, Hayashi has represented her country at various levels, including 11 appearances for the Japanese U-20 national team. She ventured to the United States in 2024, where she played collegiately for the Santa Clara Broncos, making nine appearances in her debut year.
As Hayashi embarks on her new chapter with Juventus in Serie A, many will be watching her development closely. Her transition underscores the growing impact of international players in global leagues and adds further competitive spirit to both the Italian top flight and the NWSL.
